In game video capture
This guide will help you make in game movies and show you how to compress them so they can be placed on the internet for all to see.
You will need Fraps, Virtualdub, and an account on a video hosting site like YouTube. This will be a 3 step process.
Step 1
Video capture
So let’s get started by starting up Fraps.

The Video Capture Hotkey lets you assign a button that will record movies of the game. To change the Hotkey, click in the box and type a new key to be assigned this function. Clicking Disable will stop the Hotkey from having any effect.
Next start up your game you want to make a movie in. Once the game is running you will see a Yellow FPS counter in one corner.
When your ready to begin recording press the hot key you set up and and you will see the Yellow counter turn to red. Press the hot key again to stop recording.

Step 2 compression
You will notice the video you have just made is very larger. The filesize is big because there isn’t enough time to encode the movie while the game is running. The movie frames are slightly compressed, but still require a large amount of disk space due to the high resolutions. Once you have finished capturing you should convert the saved AVI into one of the popular compressed movie formats such as mpeg or divx. Recommended program for doing this is VirtualDub.
Using VirtualDub is quite easy. To create a compressed version of the AVI follow these steps:

Step 3
Uploading to Youtube
Once you've finished editing your video, made sure it's less than 10 minutes, smaller than 100MB and is in an acceptable format, you're ready to upload it.
- Click the "Upload" button in the upper right-hand corner of any YouTube page.
- Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description, Tags and Category. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
- Determine if you want your video set to Public or Private.
- Click the "Upload a Video..." button.
- In the next window, click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.
- Click the "Upload Video" button.
If you receive an error message when uploading, you should ensure that you're attempting to upload a file type that's recognised by YouTube. YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras, camcorders and mobile phones in the .AVI, .MOV, .WMV and .MPG file formats.
